Time Spent That Might Otherwise Be Forgotten
Diane Meyer is interested in the failures of photography, preserving experience and personal history. Each of these works is related to ideas of memory, nostalgia and trying to make sense of time and place. The special feature of her work is that her photographs have been obscured by cross-stich embroidery sewn directly on the photograph, forming a pixelated version of the underlying image. In her Berlin series she followed the former path of the Berlin wall, especially the places where no visible traces remain.
